★★★★★ "It grabs your attention and won’t let go!" - Reader Review.

A casual outing with a metal detector ends in a surprising find: not treasure... but the shocking remains of a gruesome murder!

Rick Waters is a jack-of-all trades: treasure hunter, diver, part-time detective.

Never any good at holding down a steady job, Rick does whatever he can to make a living, from searching for stolen cars or missing persons, to catching and selling catfish from the bayou, or gambling in pool halls.

Whatever it takes to one day fulfill his dream: his very own fishing yacht and charter business!

Little does Rick know, his latest foray into the bayou with his metal detector will forever change his life.

From the bayous of southeast Texas to the seedier neighborhoods of Houston, from the sparkling beaches of the Virgin Islands to the Voodoo drug dens of Haiti, Rick’s quest to find a killer will take all of his wits and skill to stay alive and bring justice for a young woman's murder.

And if he’s lucky, he might find some treasure after all.

Buckle up, grab your copy and enjoy the ride!

Jules took a sip from her Styrofoam cup and found a seat at the Okaloosa International Airport. She had just spoken to a ticket counter agent at Delta Airlines, who had explained that the flight coming in from Atlanta with Rick and Gary onboard was delayed because of a mechanical issue. The agent assured her it would only be a thirty-minute delay, and the captain in Atlanta had just signed off on the repair. Jules pulled out her iPhone and saw a message from Rick she got while talking to the agent. Rick had left her the same text regarding the delay.
Jules wasn’t hassled. She just sipped on her tea, and people watched. According to Rick, Destin, the world’s luckiest fishing village, had changed significantly over the years. The new airport was much larger than when he had visited in the 80s. He told her he hated growth but had to embrace it. Most of the little beach houses out on Holiday Isle had been replaced by multi-story condos. The airport had tripled in size, and she watched as tourists from all over flocked into the airport to visit the sugar-white beaches. Jules had never seen Destin when it was a sleepy little fishing village, but Rick had shown her plenty of pictures.
Rick and Gary were returning from Alaska. They had caught a serial killer who had put fear in the people of Anchorage. Possum and Jules had returned early at Rick’s request. It had gotten too dangerous, and as much as Rick could’ve used Possum’s help, he insisted her safety was more important. She had gotten to the airport early after being on a stakeout in Crestview. She captured a meth dealer who had jumped bail and had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.
She had become quite a good bounty hunter. Her small stature was deceptive. She had undergone intense self-defense training a few years back after she was carjacked and kidnapped. The incident affected her greatly, and she vowed to never let anyone get the jump on her again. It changed her. She was now tough and aggressive and didn’t take shit from anyone. Jules texted Possum about Rick’s delay, and he got right back to her. He said he was polishing the stainless rails on Nine-Tenths. He had taken over as first mate since Johnie, Pee-Roy, and Clay were still en route from Alaska on the treasure-hunting ship Gary had purchased. They were still a week away.
Jules watched a family waiting for their luggage on the baggage carousel and smiled when she saw the kids point at the big sign of the white Destin beaches in the center of the carousel. Destin, being in the most northern part of Florida, was still cold in December. It was not arctic cold like where Rick had come from, but still chilly. Destin’s high season was opposite from most of the rest of Florida. From spring break until about September, Destin would experience a massive influx of tourists, mainly from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama. It had garnished the nickname, the Redneck Riviera.”
Jules passed the time people watching and scrolling on her phone at funny cat videos on YouTube. Before one of the videos, an ad popped up about the Junkanoo Festival in the Bahamas. Colorfully costumed locals beat drums, blow whistles and trombones, and dance in the streets. It looked like a blast. She made a mental note of it as she was sure Rick would want to take some R&R once he had a few days back in Destin. If Rick was one thing, he was spontaneous.
Rick’s flight was announced, arriving over the loudspeaker. When she saw Rick, she ran full speed toward him, jumped in the air, and nearly knocked him down as she threw her arms around him. She kissed him all over his face and didn’t let go for a long time. She finally released her grip, and they walked hand in hand to baggage claim. Rick and Gary’s bags came off, and shortly after, a man from the airline came out of the door with a kennel on a cart. He stopped by Rick, and Rick leaned down and opened the kennel cage door. Choco climbed out, yawned, and leaned into Rick to be petted.
    “Who’s this?” asked Jules.
“This is Choco. He’s our dog now. We bonded on the trail.”
“We’ll have a full house now with Choco, Olivia’s dog, Mattie, and Chief. I love it!” exclaimed Jules.
